About Sean

Sean was raised in the middle class suburb of Box Hill in Melbourne, Australia. In his early teens (80s) he was nicknamed Rushes Raymond by a school friend who said he was always in a rush to do anything.

His father, who loved jazz, was a lawyer - as was his father, and his father before him - had always said that he would be hit by a car before he reached 21.

As it happened Sean walked in front of a speeding motorist while studying in year 11, and was comatose for two weeks.

After becoming conscious Sean didn't utter a word for another week when his brother brought a Walkman into the hospital and played Sean some Hendrix (which Sean had been digging just before the accident) and asked, "Who's that?" to which Sean responded Jiimi, and was back from the depths.

Turning 17 in hospital Sean's mum asked him if he would like a guitar for his birthday ... it was a Yamaha electric and immediately became a very important friend to Sean "Rushes" Raymond.

"The Rush", as he was affectionately known, never returned to his studies. He cared about music and song-writing more than anything from that moment on.

Sean has composed songs as the founding member of two bands (Rarefaction and Sneaky Fink) and co-written songs as bassist in several other acts. In more recent years he has continued to write and record as a solo artist.
